West Africa’s Fufu and Soup
In many West African countries, fufu is eaten by hand with soup or stew. A small piece is pinched off, shaped lightly with the fingers, and dipped into a rich sauce. It is often swallowed more than chewed, depending on the style and dish. To someone unfamiliar with it, the texture and method may seem surprising. But fufu is deeply comforting and works perfectly with spicy, flavorful soups. The hand becomes part of the eating experience, helping control the size and shape of each bite.
