Beachwear Is Not Streetwear
In Barcelona, walking around city streets in only swimwear or shirtless can get unwanted attention. The city moved to stop people from treating normal public streets like an extension of the beach. Beachwear is acceptable around beach areas, but walking through central streets, shops, and public spaces half-dressed is not treated the same way. For tourists, this rule can feel confusing because the beach and city are so close together. But for locals, it is about respect. Vacation mode does not cancel public manners. What feels normal on sand can look completely out of place downtown.
